Interesting item on "range anxiety" and ultra-slow charging speeds in battery-powered electric vehicles.

Re: This New Technology Can Fully Charge an Electric Car in Just 10 Minutes
EV tech is evolving at a phenomenal rate, in terms of both battery power density (larger-capacity batteries in the same space) and charging rates.
Re: This New Technology Can Fully Charge an Electric Car in Just 10 Minutes
I'm wondering where the electricity to do all this fast charging is going to come from.
A fast charger (currently Tesla can do a 300 mile charge in 1 hour) needs a supply capable of delivering at 150kw. To reduce that to 10 minutes would therefore need a supply capable of delivering 6 times that (is that practically a megawatt?).
Compare that with the normal supply to a UK house which is I think about 20kw.
All this would need some serious upgrading of the electricity infrastructure.
(I'm no expert at this stuff by the way - I'm prepared to be shown where I'm wrong.)

Don't blame me - I voted remain

I think you are right, but I would expect EVs in general (and very fast charging systems in particular) to be phased in gradually. All it takes is somebody in the right place to do some sensible planning..... you're right, we're in trouble
