Yesterday Doubtful News highlighted a story in the Kent and Sussex Courier about dowsers claiming to have found mass plague graves etc. See original story here:

Apart form the fact that the story gave zero evidence that they had found anything at all, let alone mass graves, it raised my well developed dowsing hackles, so I wrote to the Editor suggesting that there should be a rebuttal piece. To the credit of the Editor, and the Chief Reporter (Mary Harris), they agreed to let me write something.
Here is the outcome, somewhat edited (including not crediting skepdic.com for the para on why dowsing is not scientifically credible - I did), but hopefully, however imperfect, an example of how skeptics can try to counter media muckspreading:
