I can't say I'm interested in that level of tech, but I was amused to read that somebody's "AI" (don't know if it was Alexa, Siri or whatever), which the owner had sworn at in frustration, scolded him for bad manners. Might be a good way of encouraging more politeness...

At a recent raspberry jam event my kids were taking part in a session teaching them how to train an AI to turn either a light or a fan on or off. They observed that really the AI should be more cooperative if good manners were observed however the chap running the session (who's day job was working for IBM on their Watson project) noted that in real life the opposite is often true and that when implementing voice recognition phone systems, the requirements were such that those who acted frustrated with the system, for example by swearing, would find themselves pushed up the queue to speak to a human operator whilst the more well mannered callers would be presumed to be more patient.
Please press one for sales, two for support or shout 'fucking robot shits' to be put straight though to an operator.

Moved Alexa to a permanent position today and she refused to work for a bit.

After pushing a few buttons the right lights came on.

Alexa - are you OK now?

No, I'm tense. It's the last episode of Line of Duty tonight and I know who H is.

Alexa, who is H?

I know who H is but I'm too scared to tell you.

I have Alexa on my phone. The other day n the car I asked Alexa a question. My son asked why I'd used Alexa rather than Siri. I replied "Because Alexa doesn't misunderstand me like Siri does" at which point she interjected "I'm sorry I don't understand that"

'Relaxing night sounds' is brilliant. Thunderstorm is our favourite - very soporific.

We just went through cataloguing our stores in the garage freezer - I held up each item and OH spoke them into an Alexa list.

Back indoors some entries had to be edited.

Took us ages to work out what f******s was. :D

Doing our customary Saturday night lockdown quiz over Zoom with OH's family.

I said (loudly as a joke) 'Alexa - what's the capital of New Zealand?'

Much laughter - all of their Alexas heard me and gave them the answer.

Ours didn't hear me.

Apparently it's Wellington - not Christchurch. :fp
