Too subtle for some.

...including me. I didn't get it until it was pointed out.

Right, I've had it explained to me. Talk about obscure! :geek:

Hi Tony. I've no idea if the explanation given to me last night is the same as the one given to chaggle, but the "humour" relates to the third clause about the Oxford vaccine. There is an additional comma after "protective", and apparently it is called "The Oxford Comma" - https://www.lexico.com/explore/what-is-the-oxford-comma

This esoteric humour will no doubt have you rolling on the floor with laughter, as I certainly wasn't last night. :hat

That's correct - it's a real grammarzi joke.

Bit disappointed I didn't get it TBH as I am a bit of an aficionado of the Oxford comma.

BTW Binders - who explained it to you? Did they work it out or had they seen an explanation?

I showed your post to a friend who'd done a lot of proof-reading in his time. He noticed the additional comma (I didn't), came across a lot of discussion on Twitter, searched "Oxford comma" and came up with relevant links.

I too knew about the Oxford comma and failed to spot it

Oh very good. I had seen the tweet but failed to spot that there was a joke. Only when you posted did I spot it.

There was another good one recently
The highlights of his waning administration include encounters with Rudy Giuliani, a healthcare disaster and a dildo collector.
