Whenever I need to fill in my name on an online form, my computer recognises what I am doing and helpfully pops up my full name for me to click on to fill in the box.

There is only one problem: I cannot recall ever seeing a form in which they have asked for the full name in one box: they always want the forename in one box, the surname in another one. So the autofill function is completely useless, in fact it just gets in the way.

Why do the software writers continue to include such a pointless feature?
